The ACT Government is delivering new and upgraded public schools to meet the needs of our growing city. Work is underway for Ginninderry’s first preschool to year 6 primary school and Early Childhood Education and Care Centre (ECEC) in Strathnairn. This will support the growing local population to get an excellent education close to home.

Icon have already developed the detailed design phase for the school and will work with their nominated design team, CK Architecture, to complete the final designs and oversee and manage construction of the new school.

This modern, sustainable facility will be an inclusive space to support all students. The design will include flexible spaces that will foster student development and learning. The school will cater for up to 780 students from preschool to year 6 and a further 130 in the ECEC .

In the project’s early stages before the school is formally named, the school is referred to as Strathnairn primary school.

The school is being built in a central location within the suburb of Strathnairn, strategically positioned to offer easy access for students and families. The suburb is bounded on two sides by the Murrumbidgee River and Ginninderra Creek, making it a region of vital cultural significance. The new school considers the nearby nature reserves and the environmentally sustainable design of the Ginninderry development. Comprehensive planning has occurred  to ensure that the school is conveniently located, well-designed, inclusive, sustainable, safe, and able to meet the enrolment needs of the area.
